GCC to create 200,000 solar jobs

ABU DHABI: The GCC will have 40GW of utility-scale PV projects and nearly 200,000 solar power jobs, said the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena) ahead of the Solar Expo & Forum, a leading solar marketplace, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Solar careers in 2030 will include 124,000 solar PV jobs, 50,000 concentrated solar power (CSP) jobs, and 23,000 jobs for small-scale solar rooftop projects, it added.

Held during the 2020 World Future Energy Summit and part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in January, the Solar Expo & Forum brings together leading solar power engineering companies, technology providers, and financiers.

PDO signs collaboration deals

MUSCAT: Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is forming new partnerships with key stakeholders to collaborate in the areas of intellectual property, capability building, human resources, media and communication.

The company has signed five agreements with partners to share expertise through on-job training opportunities, workshops, visits, secondments and collaborations on joint projects. These included the Ministry of Information, the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada), Omantel, the Omani Society of Intellectual Property and the National Youth Commission, said a Oman News Agency report.

The two-year memorandums of collaboration (MoCs) were signed at an official ceremony. held under the auspices of Ali bin Khalfan Al Jabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information.
