The firm has been involved in a large number of projects in the field of design and engineering, urban planning project management and technical manpower services

ADIB Al Zamil & Khalid Al Fouzan Company (Dar Consulting Engineers) was founded in 1997 in Jubail Industrial City to provide design and engineering consultancy services for the rapidly expanding petrochemicals industry and various other projects in the Gulf.

Today, it is involved in multi-disciplinary projects like oil refineries, petrochemical plants, chemical industries, urban/rural planning, residential and commercial complex designs and detailed engineering, process study, piping designs, civil/structure, electrical, instrument and control designs.

Dar Consulting is also engaged in providing detailed engineering, consultancy services and feasibility studies for various medium to large size projects, says a company spokesman adding that in-plant piping and debottlenecking were the main challenges in some of the recent projects undertaken by the company.

Among its ongoing major orders, Dar Consulting is working on projects for the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic), as well as on number of pipeline projects and new residential and office complex designs for the Royal Saudi Navy and other prominent clients in the area. The design and engineering of the huge naval complex – which is being built at the junction of Jubail 1 and Jubail 2 cities – was approved by Royal Commission, the spokesman says.

Since its establishment, Dar Consulting has been involved in a large number of projects in various fields and has provided services to a number of clients inside and outside Jubail in the field of design and engineering, urban planning and site development, project management, environmental studies and engineering, industrial hygiene and technical manpower services.

The company has established considerably in a very short period and today enjoys a remarkable status among its peers. The company actively pursues Saudisation in its recruitment policy and also encourages hiring both male and female genders in all the departments. In continuation with its Saudisation policy, Dar Consulting has adopted a new programme for Saudisation and social responsibility called Taheel.

According to the company, Taheel is an initiative aimed to train and prepare Saudis for stiff competition in the employment and labour market. The programme covers several engineering subjects like Auto CAD, Micro station, project management and engineering software in addition to English and communication skills. It currently has 300 engineers and designers on its direct payroll, with many working at different oil, gas and petrochemical companies on PMC projects. Additionally, the company has a lot of international associations with reputed engineering offices and has also its own satellite operations in all the major cities of the kingdom to support its clients.

The company has earned a lot of appreciation and was awarded the Leadership in Quality award at Business Initiative Directions (BID) for international quality convention held in Paris, France.

As one of the leading Saudi design and engineering consultancy firm, Dar Consulting currently has contracts worth around $50 million this year and sees business booming as new petrochemical projects come online.

"The overall growth of business has been more than 100 per cent for the company. The future is very bright as Sadara petrochemical complex has generated very high hopes for future prospects. And we, being at the doorstep in Jubail, see very bright future for the upcoming year," says the spokesman.

The company has recently opened satellite offices within Saudi Arabia (Yanbu and Al Khobar) to meet the growing needs of its clients. These satellite offices are fully operational now and are of strategic importance, he emphasises.

Under its expansion strategy, Dar Consulting has moved to venture into engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), environmental studies and plant turnaround services.
