Leading the way in equipment rental solutions in GCC

One of the longest established and most diverse equipment rental solutions providers, Byrne’s approach of firstly understanding its customers’ challenges and then working with them to drive effective rental solutions has clearly served it well

Already recognised as one of the longest established and most diverse equipment rental solutions providers, Byrne continues to expand its operations and products across the Gulf Council of Countries (GCC).

FLEET INVESTMENT

As part of its innovative approach to the market, Byrne Equipment Rental has successfully added and deployed blast-resistant modular buildings to its fleets across the GCC.

Designed primarily for the oil and gas industry, these units are built to withstand the impact of the most severe blasts, and in doing so protect the people and equipment inside them, meaning that in the unfortunate event of an explosion, people remain safe and high value equipment can be protected.

Furthermore, Byrne has added to its fleet custom-built high quality skid mounted accommodation camps, complete with portable sewage treatment plants that are designed to meet the exacting requirements of the oil and gas industry in what are some the world’s harshest operating environments.

To demonstrate just how committed Byrne is to the region and supporting its wide variety of customers, it is now half way through a $25 million investment programme to replace and update its fleet. Not stopping there, Byrne is investing in new products as it adds more to the fleet including heavy plant equipment and rough terrain cranes. By the end of the 2015, Byrne will have in excess of 8,000 items of equipment available to rent.

It’s clear that, while the region’s economic landscape has changed in recent times with the decline in oil prices, Byrne sees sufficient opportunity to continue developing its business. It makes no secret of the fact that under the ownership of Hanco, the huge Saudi Arabian vehicle leasing and rental operator, its ultimate objective is to be the largest equipment rental and leasing organisation in the Middle East.

INNOVATIVE WAYS OF WORKING

Byrne’s regional manager for the eastern side of Saudi Arabia, Satish Shetty comments: 'In our view, the only way to stay one step ahead of competition is to constantly think differently and provide customised solutions to clients in what is now a highly competitive environment. You must stand apart and become recognised as a company to be reckoned with. We at Byrne are very proud of what we do but even more so about our ability to innovate and develop new products and strategies, which demonstrably differ from what the market offers and which bring us closer to our customers.'

Despite what are often volatile markets, Byrne’s approach of firstly understanding its customers’ challenges and then working with them to drive effective rental solutions, has clearly served it well. Combining this with its operating strategy to serve multiple industry segments within its geographical footprint has resulted in a history that records its significant growth year on year.

Byrne recognises and openly acknowledges that the source of its success sits with its people. 'Our people are some of the best in the rental industry who are highly trained and experienced in how we work – it is their ability to deliver time and again to customers and understand this as an operational priority that gives us the edge. Targets are therefore achieved as a by-product, as our focus remains firmly on providing solutions to situations and challenges that others often walk away from,' adds Mahes Kumar, who heads the western region of Byrne at Saudi Arabia.

A COMPANY FOR ALL CONDITIONS

Byrne prides itself on being able to support their customers wherever needed. This was emphasised earlier this year (during peak winter) in extreme weather conditions when Byrne supplied equipment to support a major oil services company in the northern region of Saudi Arabia.

Temperatures recorded were well below zero and the conditions remained in place for nearly two weeks with the camp and Byrne equipment blanketed in snow. The actual camp supplied was fully specified and included sleepers, toilets, offices, kitchens, canteens, recreation areas, prayer rooms and security booths, complete with power supplies and associated services. Because of the remoteness of the site Byrne also stationed engineers on-site to ensure equipment could be serviced very quickly and efficiently.

On the other side of the temperature scale and in the Eastern Region, Byrne has installed close to 50 highly-specified blast-resistant buildings at a major refinery project where the ambient temperature is consistently a scorching 50-deg C!
