Reinforcing its roots

Bapco rolled out its biggest ever nationwide CSR plan by making financial contributions to nine charities

BAPCO reinforced its community roots in 2013, rolling out its biggest ever nationwide corporate social responsibility (CSR) plan by making generous financial contributions to nine deserving local charities and societies across various disciplines and sectors.

The company’s commitment to serving society was further underscored by several other educational schemes, outreach programmes and corporate events which help improve the lives of citizens and support the kingdom’s business sector.

One of the most high profile initiatives in this respect is the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Programme (CPISP), a worthy cause which seeks to nurture the talents of young Bahrainis and develop them into highly qualified cadres. To this effect the company re-affirmed its annual gold sponsorship of the CPISP during the year, providing financial support for students at leading higher education institutions around the world.

On a local level, Bapco continued its long-standing support for the inJAz schools mentoring programme. Over the course of the year more than 60 company employees volunteered their time to visit secondary, intermediate and university students in the classroom to impart their knowledge and experience of the professional working environment, to help prepare them for their future careers.

The career preparation theme continued with a series of industrial training programmes held in different departments and disciplines at Bapco, exposing undergraduates from establishments such as Bahrain Polytechnic and the Bahrain Training Institute to real life employment.

In keeping with its status as a national economic enabler, Bapco also provided top-level sponsorship for an array of social, sporting and business events held in the k ingdom, including the internationally-acclaimed Bahrain International Air Show, and the Bahrain International Circuit, which hosts the annual Gulf Air Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix.

The company also enjoyed valuable exposure at key regional trade shows including Middle East Oil Show (Meos) and Abu Dhabi Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec), flying the flag for the kingdom’s energy industry.
