Vilmar ... responding to customers’ needs

Vilmar on expansion mode, plans new investment

Even as the Bucharest-based company aims to maintain its position as one of the trusted players in its chosen domain, it plans to enter new sectors such as aerospace and engineering and design services

VILMAR, the primary production site of Groupe Genoyer, one of the world’s leading company in piping equipment for liquid transport for oil and gas, water and petrochemical products, is currently in an expansion mode.

“Due to our investments in equipment and constant growing experience, we have been able to find our market fit and our business is in constant expansion. We are always trying to find out our customers’ needs and try to respond with maximum professionalism,” says Khelifa Guemra, plant managing director, Vilmar.

Established in 1971, Vilmar is located 180-km northwest from the Romanian capital, Bucharest. It reached the highest standards of excellence after 1991, when it was bought by Groupe Genoyer who turned it into a modern manufacturing plant.

Vilmar manufactures and sells a diversified range of technological equipment and components parts used in several industries: petroleum and natural gas in onshore, offshore and subsea, chemical, petrochemical, energy, mining, nuclear, water, gas turbine, etc.

The company is supplying the following products and services: Forging up to 10 tonnes (flanges, compact flanges, swivel flanges, misalignment flanges, forged Tee and fittings in general, rings, discs and tube sheets, mechanical pieces or forged blocks); heat treatment with automatic line; machining; cladding (stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, nickel alloy, copper alloy, titanium); pressure vessels equipment (columns, heat exchangers, pig launchers); fittings up to 60 inches; and engineering/design/calculation notes and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) calculations.

“We are forging all grades of material used for the oil and gas industry such as carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, super alloys, nickel alloy basis, Inconel, titanium and copper alloy,” says Guemra.

The company has added several new equipment and services at its factory in the past few years such as new cladding facilities (Weld Overlay), new heat treatment lines with bigger capacities, engineering services and more developed laboratories. “Also new hydraulic presses and Ring Rollers have allowed us to be more and more competitive on the market,” says Guemra.

Vilmar has completed several projects with many more under progress. “The supply of flanges and forgings for different projects such as Safaniya Fields project and Wasit Gas Project (Inconel 625 + cladded flanges) has been a great success,” says Guemra. “These projects demonstrated our know-how and the delivery time requested was a real challenge,” he adds.

While Vilmar aims to maintain its position in the market as one of the trusted players, at the same time it plans to enter new sectors such as aerospace and engineering and design services as well. “We are preparing our future,”Guemra says.

Covering 27 hectares of which 10 are workshops hosting the latest technology equipment, employing a staff of nearly 400, being directly connected to the major transportation routes, the company is located in the southern industrial zone of Ramnicu Valcea city.

It has commercial offices in the US, Brazil, the UAE, Qatar, Singapore and Vietnam. In Jebel Ali, it also has a machining workshop for services and fast track delivery called MVS (MGI Vilmar Service).
